Modern Senior portrait images can be the biggest confidence booster of all time. What girl doesn’t love to be pampered during their shoot, and at my studio, we start planning weeks in advance with the pre-session consultation. We go through wardrobe, location, hair, how to prep your skin for Kim Wood, our makeup artist, and recommendations on what colors are in style.
A factor to overcome fast is getting the connection between the senior, MUA and myself. The more you get to know your clients, the more natural their expressions are going to be in front of your camera. Once this has been achieved I call it the Rhythm, and there’s nothing that can stop the creativity once in the Rhythm.
I always push our seniors to the limit of their expressions and posing. I love seeing the session grow and how the seniors relax and just let natural fun takeover. I also believe that for girls especially, they need to believe in themselves, that they’re beautiful, confident, and powerful. Reminding them of this always produces beautiful portraits that are deserving of hanging for all time.
Ash’s day was planned with several looks in mind ranging from something you would see from a j’dior campaign to just plain beautiful. Ash described to us that she was looking for images that composed a feel of elegance with posing that was unique our style. “I would like for you to just start off thinking outside the lines” Ash told us. Wow this just makes my heart fall in love.
